TQC are a project partner for an EU project funded by the 7th Framework programme. This project is in the area of flexible technology and plug and produce systems.

By working on this project TQC are at the leading edge of technology and are working with a number of leading European companies including Siemens and the University of Nottingham.

PRIME is the acronym for Plug and pRoduce Intelligent Multi-agent Environment based on standard technology.

PRIME is looking at improvements to how equipment interconnects, physically, electrically and its control architecture to make the engineering of multi-disciplinary, varied technology, modular special purpose production machine easier and quicker to conceive, design, manufacture, assemble and develope.

TQC have completed a number of research projects over recent years, PRIME builds on the knowledge gained in these projects.

  • Assembly-net - a discussion forum on assembly system design, manufacture and use.
  • E-Race - this TQC managed project project looked at how to use the web to provide an automated system whereby the information needed to define and cost such projects is captured, collated and processed to produce an outline assembly system design.
  • EUPASS - a 21 partner consortium across 9 countries with the goal being to develop the next generation of automatic assembly machines with specific emphasis on precision micro assembly.
