Technology Modules: Conveyor Systems
Explore the Technology Module Section
In the design and manufacture of special purpose assembly and test automation equipment a large number of technology modules are commonly used to provide the complete turnkey solution. Find out more about these modules:
Conveyor systems are the core element of many assembly, test and handling systems and are commonly used with the special purpose machinery and bespoke equipment design and manufacturing industry.
TQC have knowledge of many different types of conveyor systems including pallet transfer systems, roller conveyors, belt conveyors and chain conveyors.
TQC works closely with leading manufacturers of conveying and product transfer solutions to ensure that the correct system is integrated into your equipment.
Pallet transfer systems are used to move product or assemblies from one station to the next to allow sequential or concurrent assembly or test operations. The pallet hold the parts or assembly in a known orientation. Pallet tracking can be achieved by read / write tags. Typically, belts or acetal slats are used as the conveyor elements.
Roller conveyors are available in several types, lineshaft, chain and seperate electric drive rollers are three main types. The differtn types are specified by considering the application, this can include the conveyor capacity, product weight, speed of motion and buffer / storage capacity.
Belt coveyors can use either fabric, rubber, metal sheet or mesh as the belt material depending on the application. Consideration has to be given to safety, cleanliness and the conveyors functional requirements when deciding what belt material should be used.
Chain conveyors are typically used to transport larger, heavier parts use a filled pallets and engine and vehicle parts in the automotive industry.
Elevators are sometimes required within conveyor systems when a change in height or level is required. Belts or slats can be used, sometimes with flights to elevate the product.
