The general concept of Hydraulic Testing is to apply a fluid into a body and to increase the pressure.
TQC have engineered hydraulic test machine systems to test with oil, Skydrol and water hydraulics. Pressures range from a few PSI to over 1,000 bar.
Hydraulic testing can be used for the following applications:
- Burst testing
- Pressure and permanent set testing
- Compressor testing
TQC performed destruction testing on aluminium gas bottles for a client with a bespoke hydraulic test machine that needed to withstand pressures of up to 1000 bar.
The test was achieved safely by pressurising the gas bottles with water whilst the cylinder was contained within a water jacket. The water was pumped into the cylinder and the pressure then monitored for any change.
The unit illustrated to the left here allows automatic pressure testing of gas cylinders to BS and DOT standards. The systemfor this hydraulic test machine includes automatic weighing, filling, testing to 500 bar with expansion measurement, and full mechanical handling for up to 180 gas cylinders per hour.
The results gathered via this testing are then displayed on an inspector's VDU and logged onto a central computer for data collection and preservation purposes, the results are then analysed and printed.
TQC provide flow test and measurement equipment and a flow testing service. Test mediums used include air, water and hydraulic oil, test instrumentation can be via a standard equipment or a bespoke engineering solution. Flow testing can be performed on dedicated equipment or be a station within a system.
